Rehabilitation for Active People

Rehabilitation following injury or surgery helps return people to an active lifestyle and competition as quickly and as safely as possible. Our experienced team includes physical therapists, certified athletic trainers and chiropractors - each of whom is committed to the care of active people with muscle and joint concerns.

Our rehabilitation team works closely with MSM's network of sports medicine and orthopaedic doctors to create a treatment plan that helps you to heal properly and prevents re-injury.

Rehabilitation services at MSM are provided by the Institute for Athletic Medicine (IAM), a premier provider of orthopedic and sports medicine rehabilitation. Specialists see patients at 24 clinics conveniently located through the Twin Cities metro area. IAM is part of Minneapolis-based Fairview Health Services and North Memorial Medical Center.

Specialized Programs for Athletes

Some athletes want advanced training following rehabilitation. IAM offers an array of programs designed to help athletes return to high-intensity sports that include football, soccer, basketball, baseball and volleyball. Specialized programs include:

Arts Medicine Program - a program dedicated to treating the unique needs of artists - from dancers and sculptors to musicians and actors

Back in Balance - a program for people acute and chronic low back problems

CycleFit - an injury treatment and prevention program for people who enjoy biking - off-road to road racing

Golf Injury Program - a program for injured amateur and competitive golfers

Next Step - a five-week program bridging the gap between in-clinic rehabilitation and return to high intensity sports that include basketball and soccer.

Runners Injury Program - an injury treatment and prevention program for runners

Throwers Injury Program - an injury treatment program for overhead throwers that include baseball, softball and volleyball players
