Aimee Klapach, M.D.

Dr. Klapach is an orthpaedic surgeon who specializes in women's sports medicine and shoulder disorders. After receiving her Doctor of Medicine in 1999 from the University of Iowa College of Medicine, she continued with a residency in Orthopaedics at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She sought additional advanced training through the Fellowship in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Services at the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.

An avid athlete herself, she was the captain of the University of Iowa field hockey team and named Big 10 Player of the week. Her experience on and off the field has provided her with ample opportunity for research, primarily related to rotator cuff tears, long-term ACL treatment and hip arthroplasty. Her work is well-published and in 2003 she received the Resident Award for Johnston Excellence in Medical Writing at the Mid-American Orthopaedic Association's 21st meeting. She's served as a mentor for the American Medical Women's Association.
